Heartsease, johnny jump up, heart's ease, heart's delight, tickle-my-fancy, Jack-jump-up-and-kiss-me, come-and-cuddle-me, three faces in a hood, or love-in-idleness, wild pansy...what a lot of lovely names for such a small flower.
I first learned of them helping Granddad in the garden,
spying their small faces popping up between cracks in paths, in and amongst the
flower and vegetable beds - anywhere they could. I loved them
instantly, for Granddad called them 'Johnny jump ups' and that I thought
was the most fun name for a flower ...ever!
